Authorities have warned that the Ambatale flood control barrier is at serious risk of overflowing as water levels in the Kelani River continue to rise, raising fears of flooding in surrounding areas.

Authorities urged residents living along the river embankment, the Malabe–Kaduwela main road, and nearby low-lying neighbourhoods to evacuate immediately to safer locations.
