China will donate the school uniform fabric required for 2027 for all students and student monks studying in government schools, government-aided schools and government-approved Pirivens in Sri Lanka.

The donation will provide 10.82 million metres of fabric, covering the uniform requirements of nearly 4.18 million students free of charge.

The agreement was formally exchanged between Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong and Education Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa at the Ministry of Education in Battaramulla.
