Sri Lanka has expressed condolences to the people of Colombia following a powerful earthquake that caused deaths and widespread destruction.

Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath stated that Sri Lanka stands in solidarity with the people and government of Colombia.

Rescue teams are searching for survivors after the 7.4-magnitude earthquake, with reports putting the death toll at more than 250.
