A Police officer who was providing security to a house adjacent to the Athulathmudali Maha Vidyalaya in Matugama reportedly fired a warning shot into the air after spotting a suspicious van parked nearby.

According to Police, the house was under Police protection following a murder that took place several years ago. 

No one was reportedly harmed due to the gunfire.
