100 new employees appointed to SLBFE under first open recruitment in 40 years

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has appointed 100 new employees following its first open recruitment drive in 40 years.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism stated that the appointments were made for positions including Information Technology Officer, Management Assistant, Driver and Office Assistant.


The recruitment was conducted through public advertisements, interviews and a formal selection process, with applicants from all districts considered.


The new employees will be assigned to provincial and district offices across the island. Existing employees have also received promotions.


Minister Vijitha Herath stated that the foreign employment sector remains important to Sri Lanka’s economy, with the country receiving $8.2 billion in worker remittances in 2025.
