About 100 new cancer cases are detected daily in Sri Lanka, Deputy Health Minister Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni stated.

He made the remarks at the opening of a new Early Cancer Detection Centre at the National Hospital, Colombo.

Six such centres are already operating nationwide, with plans to establish centres in every district.

The Deputy Minister noted that around 40 cancer-related deaths occur daily, while the National Cancer Control Programme reports 15 new breast cancer cases among women each day.
