The Department of Irrigation has issued a minor flood warning for low-lying areas within the Kuda Ganga sub-basin of the Kalu River Basin following significant rainfall in the upper catchment areas.

According to the Department, a minor flood situation is currently being observed based on rainfall patterns and water level data recorded at river gauging stations. However, no significant or rapid increase in river water levels is expected over the next few hours.

Residents living in flood-prone areas along the Kuda Ganga and Magura Ganga in the Bulathsinhala, Madurawala and Palindanuwara Divisional Secretariat divisions, as well as motorists travelling through these areas, have been advised to remain vigilant.

Disaster management authorities and relevant agencies have also been urged to take necessary precautionary and preparedness measures.
