President Anura Kumara Dissanayake paid his last respects to the late Professor Tissa Vitarana, a renowned politician and former minister, yesterday (16) afternoon. 

He visited the N. M. Perera Centre, where Vitarana’s remains were lying in state, and extended heartfelt condolences to his family.

Professor Vitarana was a veteran leader of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP), a former minister, and served as Governor of the North Central Province from 2019 to 2020. 

His passing marks the end of an influential political career dedicated to public service.
