University of Moratuwa (UoM) and Greenstat Hydrogen, a subsidiary of Norway-based renewable energy company Greenstat AS, have signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on hydrogen technologies and green energy solutions.
The agreement aims to support Sri Lanka’s national priority on green hydrogen by combining UoM’s academic expertise with Greenstat’s industry knowledge. The partnership will focus on applied research, innovation, and practical hydrogen applications to accelerate the country’s transition to sustainable energy.
The signing ceremony was attended by UoM Vice Chancellor Senior Professor Niranjan Gunawardena, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Jagath Manathunga, Registrar Mr. D.L.D. Jayantha, Director of International Relations Dr. G.V.I. Samaradivakara, and Professor M.Y. Gunasekara, Head of the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering. Greenstat Hydrogen was represented by Chairman of the Board, Hon. Sturle Harald Pedersen and Coordinator of Greenstat Center of Excellence in Hydrogen (COE-H) Eng. Prasadini Wickramasinghe.
