Nyne Hotels’ new chapter on the southern coast

Nyne Hotels’ new chapter on the southern coast

  • Nyne Luxe – Anuprit, Anubhava, and Anugrah – opens its doors in Bentota

If you have followed Nyne’s journey over the years, arriving at Nyne Luxe on Bentota beach feels like watching the brand step into a new chapter.

Until now, Nyne has been best known for transforming existing homes into art-filled boutique hotels that felt intimate and layered. Nyne Luxe is different. It is the brand’s first purpose-built development, and with that comes a certain scale and confidence that signals growth rather than departure.

“Nyne Luxe is designed around emotion – how love, blessing, and experience shape a stay. Every space carries intention, meaning, and care,” Nyne Hotels Founder Nayantara ‘Taru’ Fonseka said.

The property functions as a thoughtfully planned complex. On one side is Anuprit, the adults-only hotel. On the other is Anugrah, designed for families. Between them sits Anubhava, a shared lifestyle and event space that connects the two hotels. Across the road, The Tuck Shop operates as a café and lifestyle store.

Together, these elements form what is likely one of Sri Lanka’s first fully integrated boutique concepts of this kind, where two independent hotels share common spaces while maintaining distinct identities and price points.

Anuprit is the more intimate of the two hotels, with seven rooms across Deluxe, Premium, and Junior Suite categories.

It is centred around couples and honeymooners, and the design leans towards calm, contained luxury. One entire floor can be booked exclusively, complete with its own lounge and dining space, which adds an additional layer of privacy for small groups or celebratory stays.

What stands out most at Anuprit is the art. There is a noticeable abundance of it, and it elevates the space in a way that feels unmistakably Nyne. The collection gives warmth and personality to the contemporary structure, softening clean lines and adding visual depth.

As with any new hotel, there are small operational and spatial adjustments that will naturally evolve over time. The property only opened in December last year, and as the team continues to refine the guest experience, certain design elements will likely feel more intuitive.

Even in its early phase, however, the intention behind the space is clear. Anuprit is about creating a setting for couples to slow down, reconnect, and feel looked after.

Anugrah, with eight rooms, offers a different rhythm. Designed for families and multi-generational groups, it features interconnecting configurations and flexible layouts that make longer stays comfortable.

Architecturally, it feels slightly softer and more relaxed, and there is an easy warmth to the atmosphere. The layout lends itself well to family living, allowing guests to feel both connected and comfortably spaced.

Both hotels operate on an all-inclusive structure with two tiers. The Premium category includes the full food-and-beverage menu and the complete spa offering, while the Standard package provides a curated dining and beverage selection along with a 15-minute spa treatment.

For families in particular, the inclusion of nanny services within the all-inclusive option is a meaningful addition. It allows parents to genuinely unwind rather than simply relocate their routine.

Anubhava, positioned between the two hotels, acts as the social and experiential heart of Nyne Luxe. It houses relaxed lounges, a pool table, beach gym facilities, wellness zones, and even a rooftop pickleball court.

The space also doubles as an event venue capable of hosting between 200 and 250 guests, which expands the property’s appeal to destination weddings, private celebrations, and corporate gatherings. It is rare for a boutique-scale property to offer that kind of flexibility.

Dining plays a central role in shaping the identity of the complex. Table by Nyne: The Beach, a beach-centric take on the landmark Table by Nyne in Colombo and located on the ground floor of Anuprit, is open to outside guests and reflects a careful collaboration between Chef Shantha and Founder Nayantara.

The menu balances Sri Lankan and international influences, with a strong commitment to dietary inclusivity. The kitchen has developed its own vegan cheeses, butter, and yoghurt in-house, and dishes such as spiced pumpkin demonstrate that plant-based cuisine is treated with creativity and seriousness. Rather than isolating dietary needs, the approach integrates them seamlessly into the broader offering.

The details across the property reinforce Nyne’s attention to texture and comfort.

Sweet boxes in each room feature traditional favourites such as pol toffees, milk toffees, and aluwa. Beds are constructed with seven layers for added comfort, and all linens and amenities are exclusive to the brand. The spa offers a range of treatments, from relaxation to hot stone massages, with selected services included depending on the package.

Across the road, The Tuck Shop feels like a clever and practical addition. Along this stretch of coast, good cafés are not always easy to find, and this space, with its croffles, coffee, and retail selection of swimwear, spices, and tea, has the potential to become a neighbourhood favourite.

Full beach service, including cocktails delivered directly to loungers, completes the experience in a way that feels indulgent without being excessive.
