Sri Lanka Army engineers have restored road access in Mullaitivu after the Nayaru main bridge collapsed due to flooding caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
The collapse disrupted traffic on key routes, including Mullaitivu–Welioya, Mullaitivu–Trincomalee and Mullaitivu–Kokkilai, isolating several communities.
The Ministry of Defence stated that the Army engineer troops carried out urgent repairs and installed a Compact 100 heavy bridge.
The temporary structure spans 120 feet with 12 bays and allows two-way traffic, restoring essential connectivity in the area.
