The Election Commission (EC) has issued an invitation for political parties seeking recognition in the 2026 elections. Eligible parties can submit their applications from today (28) to 28 February, 2026, by providing the necessary documents signed by the party secretary.

Application forms are accessible through the Election Commission’s official website, district election offices, and the Election Secretary’s office.

Recognized parties must select their official symbol in accordance with Gazette notifications.

Required supporting documents include the party’s constitution, list of office bearers, details of female office bearers over the past four years, audited financial statements, current policy statements, and proof of ongoing operation over the last four years.

All completed applications must be submitted by 3:00 pm on February 28, 2026, either via post or by hand delivery, and should be marked “Application for Recognition of Political Party – 2026.” Late submissions will not be accepted.
