A Chinese cargo aircraft carrying humanitarian aid worth Rs. 400 million arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake this morning(08).
The Boeing 747-400 freighter, which departed from Shanghai, delivered 84,525 kilograms of relief items, including inflatable lifejackets, tents, blankets and bed sheets.
The consignment is intended to assist communities affected by recent disasters in Sri Lanka.
Officials present to receive the aid included Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Anura Karunathilaka, Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekara, and Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong.
