The Department of Meteorology stated that showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m. today (22).

Heavy rainfall above 100mm is likely at some locations due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance near Sri Lanka.

Morning showers may occur in the Western and North-Western provinces and in Mullaittivu District.

Misty conditions are expected in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, and in Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts.

The public is advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
