Former Sri Lanka lock forward and Police SC rugby skipper and Chief Inspector Pradeep Wilson passed away on Monday (7), aged 49, due to terminal illness.
The late Pradeep Wilson, a product of Vidyartha College, Kandy, represented his country under Pradeep Basnayake, Dushanth Lewke, and Pavithra Fernando from 2003 to 2009.
He also led his club Police SC in 2006 and 2007, which saw them winning several titles in the domestic rugby circuit.
At Police SC he was put through his paces by the likes of retired SDIG Nimal Lewke, late DIG Daya Jayasundara, retired DIG Hafeez Marso, retired DIG Norman Silva, and SP Lalith Leelaratne.
He was also a level-two rugby referee, while being a member of the Referees Society in the past, having come under the watchful eyes of Vimal Perera, Nizam Jamaldeen, Dilroy Fernando, and Anil Jayasinghe to name a few.
He is survived by his wife Nalika and his two sons. His funeral is to be held at the Borella Cemetery today (9).
