Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya noted that the government will introduce energy storage systems to maximise the use of renewable energy in Sri Lanka.
Responding to a question in Parliament, the Prime Minister stated that Sri Lanka aims to generate 70% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and that plans are already being implemented to achieve the target.
She further noted that steps are being taken to expand the national power transmission network and increase the capacity of existing hydropower plants to support renewable energy integration.
