A special project to clean Beira Lake by introducing seawater into the lake is set to begin as an immediate solution.

The initiative will be jointly implemented by the Colombo Municipal Council, Urban Development Authority and Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation.

Businessman and engineer Nahil Wijesuriya has agreed to provide financial support for the project.

Officials also discussed long-term measures to improve the cleanliness and appearance of Beira Lake through future government budget allocations.
