The Ministry of Energy has issued regulations for the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) under the Sri Lanka Electricity Act.
Permanent employees with over 10 years of service will receive two months’ salary per completed year and 1.5 months per foregone year, while those with under 10 years get five months per completed year. Compensation ranges from Rs. 900,000 to Rs. 5 million.
Non-permanent staff (excluding contract workers) are entitled to two months’ salary per completed year, with a minimum of 12 months’ pay.
Employees under disciplinary action are ineligible, and retirees will be barred from joining successor companies.
