While recent earthquakes have not affected Sri Lanka, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau warns of potential tsunami risks if a major quake hits Sumatra. 

Global seismic activity is rising, with a 7.7-magnitude quake in Myanmar causing over 2,000 deaths. 

Japan and India have also reported tremors, prompting authorities to enhance monitoring and preparedness.

Sri Lankan officials emphasise the importance of preparedness in case of future tremors or tsunami threats.
