The Government has revised the fees for issuing driving licences to foreign nationals, as announced in a new gazette issued by Transport, Highways and Urban Development Minister Bimal Rathnayake.
Under the new structure, the fee for a one-month temporary licence has risen from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 15,000.
Licences valid for up to two months will now cost Rs. 21,000, while those valid for up to six months will be Rs. 30,000. A temporary licence valid for six to twelve months has been set at Rs. 45,000.
Renewals and duplicate licences for foreign nationals will each cost Rs. 15,000.
For Sri Lankan citizens holding foreign-issued licences, the fee for obtaining a local licence has increased from Rs. 3,300 to Rs. 30,000.
Foreign nationals with foreign-issued licences will now pay Rs. 60,000 for a Sri Lankan licence, up from Rs. 15,000.
