Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara has recently slammed officials at the Finance Ministry, stating that they are acting without a proper understanding of protecting fishermen and the fisheries industry.
He had pointed out during a meeting with individuals engaged in the fisheries sector on Wednesday (17) that as a result, these officials had not been able to prepare a viable programme to protect fishermen and develop Sri Lanka’s fisheries sector.
According to Nanayakkara, the Finance Ministry officials’ actions indicate they do not have a proper understanding of the valuable contribution made by the fisheries sector to the development of the economy of this country.
