The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) recorded a monthly high last Friday (20) as the All-Share Price Index (ASPI) climbed by 233.23 points to 8,718.15 as debt restructuring assurances from India have led to the gradual increase in investor confidence.
Accordingly, the market saw 89 million shares being traded within the day, recording a Rs. 2.24 billion turnover, while the S&P SL20 index increased by 88.45 points to 2,724.22.
The market has been consistently on the rise since last Tuesday (17), and the main index has climbed up by 351 points during the week.
A total of 154 companies contributed positively to the ASPI, while top performers include Sampath Bank, Richard Peiris, Commercial Bank, ExpoLanka, and Hatton National Bank.
Moreover, foreign purchases were recorded at Rs. 178.43 million and foreign sales at Rs 118.30 million.
