Dollar selling rate drops below Rs 340

As a consequence of the steady decline in the value of the US Dollar since 24 June, exchange rate pressures on the Sri Lankan Rupee have been observably gradually easing.

For the first time since 23 June, the selling rate of the dollar fell below the Rs 340 mark yesterday (6). According to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the buying rate of a dollar was recorded at Rs 330.39, while the selling rate stood at Rs 339.88.

According to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the year-to-date depreciation of the Sri Lankan rupee against the US dollar was 7.7% as of 3 July 2026.
