Three individuals have died following a fire that broke out at a restaurant near the Thalawathugoda Junction yesterday morning (9), the Police said. The victims, who sustained injuries in the incident were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment. 

Police said that all three individuals injured in the incident later succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment. The fire erupted at the restaurant during the morning hours, prompting the authorities to deploy three fire engines from the Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Municipal Council to bring the blaze under control. 

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a gas leak, although the exact cause has yet to be determined.
