The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has warned that if the government does not quickly address their concerns, they will announce plans to escalate their trade union actions today (28).
Following a Central Committee meeting scheduled for the day, GMOA Secretary Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa stated that decisions regarding future industrial action will be made and communicated to the public.
The GMOA began a trade union strike on Monday, protesting five demands, including the refusal to issue prescriptions for medicines unavailable at outpatient departments, which must instead be purchased from external pharmacies.
