Two suspects have surrendered to the Malaysian Police over the murder of three Sri Lankans in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur.

According to the Sri Lankan High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, the two suspects in question are also Sri Lankans.

On 22 September, the Malaysian Police found bodies of three men, piled up on top of each other, with their limbs (hands and feet) tied and heads covered in plastic bags, at a shop house on Perhentian Street in the Lower Kovil Village, Jalan Perhentian Kampung Kovil Hilir, Sentul. The shop house was found to be owned by a married couple. The couple’s son was also among the victims. The other two victims were reportedly tenants renting a room within the premises. They were aged between 20 and 40 years. The Police later revealed that they are on a manhunt for two Sri Lankan suspects, who were staying at the couple’s place on the second floor of the shop house.

The neighbours had reported the murders to the Police after hearing shouts resembling a fight coming from the establishment. Screams believed to be from a fight led to the discovery of the bodies that were found stacked in the house’s store, with one of them being naked.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid was quoted as saying that the 40-year-old couple and their son had known the suspects, who are supposedly from Klang, for six months. The duo had stayed at their house for two days. Majid had said that the Police received a call from the public informing them that there had been a fight at a residence at about 11 p.m. on 22 September night.

The Sentul Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said that the Police has yet to ascertain the motive behind the killings. “The cause of death is that the victims were suffocated in plastic bags,” he told the New Straits Times (NST).

Sukarno said that the Police has informed the Sri Lankan diplomatic mission in Malaysia on the matter.
