The Department of Meteorology has forecast heavy showers exceeding 75mm in parts of Sri Lanka today (6).

Rainfall above 75mm is likely in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Showers or thundershowers are also expected in the Southern and Eastern provinces and Mullaitivu, with the public advised to take precautions against lightning and strong winds.
