President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka arrived in Hanoi on 4 May, beginning a state visit to Vietnam and participating in the 20th United Nations Day of Vesak celebrations.
He was welcomed by senior Vietnamese officials, marking the first visit by a Sri Lankan head of state to Vietnam in 16 years.
The visit highlights the long-standing friendship between the two nations, which established diplomatic ties in 1970 and are now celebrating 55 years of cooperation.
High-level meetings and the signing of key agreements are expected to deepen bilateral relations in politics, economy, and culture.
Vietnam views Sri Lanka as a valued partner in South Asia, with both countries aiming to expand collaboration for regional peace and prosperity.
