Whether Sri Lanka seeks another IMF programme after the current Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement will depend on a decision by the Government, IMF Mission Chief Evan Papageorgiou stated.

He noted that two reviews remain under the current programme, with the seventh review currently under discussion and the eighth and final review yet to be conducted.

Papageorgiou stated that only a few outstanding matters remain before reaching a staff-level agreement on the current review.

The IMF team conducted its latest mission from 10 to 23 September to review Sri Lanka’s economic developments and progress under the EFF programme.
