Colombo HC postpones case against MP Namal Rajapaksa over "Krrish" deal

16 Feb 2026 | BY Staff Writer

The Colombo High Court (HC) today (16) postponed the case against MP Namal Rajapaksa related to the alleged “Krrish” deal until 19 February.

The delay was ordered as lawyers across Sri Lanka decided to abstain from court duties today (16) in protest.

Despite the boycott, Rajapaksa was present in court when the case was called.

The next hearing has been scheduled for 18 February.

The case, filed by the Attorney General (AG), accuses Rajapaksa of misappropriating Rs. 70 million received from the Indian Krrish company, claimed to be intended for promoting rugby in Sri Lanka.

The decision to halt court work nationwide was in support of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka’s stance, following the recent murder of a lawyer and his wife in Akuregoda on Friday.
