Victims of online financial scams through platforms like WhatsApp are urged to report incidents to the Police Computer Crime Investigation Division via email at dir.ccid@police.gov.lk.
This follows a rise in social media account hacks, leading to financial fraud.
Accordingly, the public is advised not to open suspicious links share one-time passwords (OTP), PINs, and codes, or respond to requests for financial aid through SMS or WhatsApp.
