Cabinet Spokesperson Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated that no referendum is required to implement the government's proposal to extend the retirement age of judges.

He said the Constitution does not require a referendum for the proposed amendments, which were approved by the Cabinet.

The reforms also include increasing the number of Court of Appeal and High Court judges to improve the efficiency of Sri Lanka's judicial system.
