Former President Ranil joins world leaders to wish Indian PM Modi on his 75th birthda Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe joined other global figures, including US President Donald Trump, in extending birthday wishes to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday today.

Wickremesinghe extended his wishes via his official X account, calling Modi his "good friend" and wishing him "good health, strength, and continued wisdom."

US President Donald Trump also called Modi to wish him well, a move that signals a potential warming of ties following recent trade tensions. 

Trump later posted on X, praising Modi for doing a "tremendous job" and thanking him for his support on the "Russia-Ukraine war."

The call, described as "positive" by both sides, was the first between the two leaders since the US imposed tariffs on India last month. 

In response to Trump's public remarks, Modi called the US President a "friend" and said the two countries were "committed" to strengthening their partnership.

Narendra Modi, who was born on September 17, 1950, is celebrating his 75th birthday today.
