Electricity distribution functions previously handled by the Ceylon Electricity Board(CEB) have been transferred to Electricity Distribution Lanka (Private) Limited under the Electricity Act No. 36 of 2024.

The transition allows the company to implement operational reforms in the electricity distribution sector.

Electricity Distribution Lanka (Private) Limited noted the move aims to improve efficiency, reliability and service quality for electricity consumers.
