TikTok, social media platform owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, has partnered with the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team Coordination Centre (SLCERTCC) as its the ‘Strategic Partner for Online Safety’, for the 16th Annual National Cyber Security Conference 2025, to be held on 12 November in Colombo.

The annual conference brings together government agencies, law enforcement, industry experts, and global thought leaders to discuss emerging threats, share knowledge, and explore innovative strategies to build a safer digital ecosystem.

As the ‘Strategic Partner for Online Safety’, TikTok’s participation underscores its ongoing commitment to fostering digital wellbeing, promoting online safety, and empowering communities through awareness and collaboration. At the summit, TikTok will spotlight its global and local initiatives to promote responsible digital citizenship, protect users, and empower young people in the digital age.

“TikTok is proud to collaborate with SL CERT at this year’s National Cyber Security Conference,” said TikTok Head of Government Relations and Public Policy, South Asia Ferdous Mottakin.

“Online safety is a shared responsibility, and we believe that meaningful partnerships with governments, educators, and communities are vital to nurturing a secure and positive online environment for everyone,” he said.

SL CERT Chief Executive Officer (Act.) Dr. Kanishka Karunasena said: “We welcome TikTok’s partnership as our Strategic Partner for Online Safety at this year’s conference.”

“Protecting citizens in the digital age requires collaboration across platforms, sectors, and borders. TikTok’s involvement brings valuable global experience in online safety that complements our mission to raise awareness, strengthen cyber resilience, and create a secure online space for all Sri Lankans,” he went on to say.

Under the Ministry of Digital Economy, SL CERT|CC has led Sri Lanka’s national cybersecurity initiatives since 2006. Its flagship National Cyber Security Conference serves as a key annual forum for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building across the public and private sectors.

This year’s conference features expert panels, keynote sessions, and technical workshops exploring AI-driven threat detection, data protection, national resilience frameworks, and the evolving landscape of digital trust.
