The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas in sea areas from Trincomalee to Negombo via Kankesanturai and Mannar, and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

The affected sea areas may be rough or very rough at times, with strong gusty winds of up to 55–65 kmph.

Wave heights may increase to around 2.0–2.5 metres in sea areas from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Matara.

Naval and fishing communities in the affected areas have been advised to remain vigilant.
