Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) legend Sanath Jayasuriya and Sports Minister Sunil Gamage visited Jaffna to inspect a site in Mandaitivu for a proposed international cricket stadium.

The location has already been identified and acquired, with officials assessing its feasibility and discussing development plans.

Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General Manada Yahampath was also present during the inspection.

Jayasuriya has requested financial support from the Indian Prime Minister (PM), while the Minister confirmed ongoing discussions with the Indian High Commissioner and Sri Lanka Cricket's backing for the project.

The initiative aims to boost cricket infrastructure and opportunities for youth in the Northern Province.
