A Fundamental Rights (FR) petition has been filed before the Supreme Court seeking an order directing prison authorities to ensure that Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero appears in his monastic robes when being produced before courts for other cases.

The petition was filed by retired Air Force officer Shantha Jayathilaka.

The Commissioner General of Prisons, Secretary to the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General have been named as respondents.
