The National Dengue Control Unit has urged the public to intensify dengue prevention measures amid rainy weather and the increased risk of mosquito breeding.
Acting Director Dr Kapila Kannangara warned that ineffective prevention efforts could lead to a resurgence of dengue outbreaks. He noted that dengue cases have historically increased during rainy seasons.
Dengue mosquito larval surveys are currently being conducted across all districts. Residents have been urged to inspect their homes and surroundings, remove potential breeding sites and prevent water from stagnating.
