The Supreme Court (SC) has determined that certain clauses of the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Bill are inconsistent with the Constitution and may require a special majority in Parliament, while 'Clause 17' requires approval at a referendum, the Speaker announced. According to the SC's Determination, the relevant clauses can be passed only with a special majority in Parliament. However, the SC has determined that Clause 17, in its present form, may become law, only if it is passed with the special majority and approved by the people at a referendum.

The SC’s Determination was presented to Parliament by the Speaker at the commencement of yesterday’s (22) sitting.
