The Court of Appeal today (10) heard a writ petition filed by Sarvajana Balaya MP Dilith Jayaweera challenging a contempt of court reference made by the Colombo Fort Magistrate.

Jayaweera’s counsel argued that the CID had provided incomplete information about a television interview in which the MP criticised the CID.

The Court directed that further hearing of the petition take place on 14 September, when a related case is also scheduled to be heard.
