The National Blood Bank has thanked Sri Lankans for their overwhelming response to its urgent appeal for blood following Cyclone Ditwah.
Director Dr. Lakshman Edirisinghe said over 20,000 donations were received within three days far exceeding the daily requirement of 1,500.
He confirmed that current blood stocks will meet national needs for the next 15 days, allowing operations to return to normal.
Dr. Edirisinghe expressed gratitude to citizens and the media for their support during the crisis.
