The trial in a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against former Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody began today (17) at the Colombo High Court.

Charges were read in open court, and the accused pleaded not guilty.

The case alleges that in 2016, while serving at Lanka Fertilizer Company, he caused a loss of over Rs.8.85mn to the government during a procurement process.

The trial will continue before High Court Judge Rashantha Godawela.
