Minister of Energy Kumara Jayakody assured Parliament that electricity tariffs will remain unchanged for now.
He was responding to a query by MP Ajith P. Perera, who raised concerns about potential IMF-driven hikes in power bills.
Jayakody clarified that while there are no plans to raise tariffs, electricity pricing plays a key role in the country's debt repayment strategy.
The assurance comes amid public concern over cost-of-living pressures and ongoing discussions with international creditors.
