Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya stated that harmful social media comments, particularly those targeting children, women and vulnerable people, highlight the need for a more cultured society.

Speaking at the Gampaha Literary Festival, she noted that literature and the arts can help develop empathy and sensitivity.

She also called for greater opportunities for schoolchildren to develop their talents through arts and literature.
