Upcountry railway services resumed today (2), with trains operating from Colombo Fort to Peradeniya and Gampola following an approximately 10-month suspension after Cyclone Ditwah.
The ‘Podi Menike’ departed Colombo Fort at 5.55 a.m. and reached Peradeniya as a trial service. Passengers were not permitted to travel.
The service is scheduled to continue from Peradeniya to Gampola, while restoration work continues on the Upcountry Line.
