The rear engine of the Udarata Menike train bound for Badulla from Colombo caught fire at the Haputale Railway Station today (3).

The staff at the Haputale Railway Station and the police managed to douse the fire with the assistance of the residents.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
