Nearly 30,000 people were inspected during a special island-wide police operation carried out on 24 December, police reported.

A total of 597 individuals were arrested over suspected criminal activity and illicit liquor and drug-related offences, according to the Police Media Division. 

Of those arrested, 25 were identified as directly linked to criminal activities, while 354 were detained on outstanding warrants.

Police also apprehended 136 drunk drivers and 36 reckless drivers, and recorded 4,795 other traffic offences.
