Sri Lanka has been ranked 67th globally in the 2026 Global Peace Index published by the Institute for Economics and Peace.

Sri Lanka is the second most peaceful country in South Asia, behind Bhutan, which ranked 16th globally.

The report shows Sri Lanka improved from 97th place in 2025 to 67th in 2026.

The index assesses 163 countries based on factors including safety, conflict, political stability and militarisation.
