The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijitha Hearth has held a series of diplomatic discussions with several Gulf country foreign ministers regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
In a phone conversation with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Minister Hearth exchanged views on the regional situation and expressed gratitude for Jordan’s support to the Sri Lankan community.
He emphasized that restoring regional peace remains a top priority for Sri Lanka and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to regional stability.
Minister Hearth spoke with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, highlighting the importance of de-escalation and diplomacy to maintain stability. He also appreciated Bahrain’s assistance to the Sri Lankan community in Bahrain.
In a separate call with Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi, both ministers discussed regional developments and reaffirmed their joint commitment to de-escalation and protecting civilians through diplomatic means.
Furthermore, Minister Hearth engaged with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, reaffirming Sri Lanka’s dedication to peace and security in the region.
He urged for restraint and continued diplomatic efforts, while thanking Kuwait for supporting the Sri Lankan community.
These discussions reflect Sri Lanka’s proactive approach to fostering regional peace and stability amidst ongoing conflicts.
